Wordingham has developed custom manufacturing processes for Teflon filled Delrin material that is quite expensive. The part we make are very tightly toleranced, both for size and for GD&T callouts. Since the material is quite expensive we need to minimize scrap parts to keep pricing in line with customer expectations. Since the material is a plastic, the close size tolerances are also difficult to achieve. When using gage pins to measure differences of .0002 in. it is often difficult to correlate the “feel” between our QC department and the customers QC or Assembly departments. We have placed Quality engineers at the customer to work with their QC and Assembly team to develop custom processes that would insure that the parts are made to expectations
