Syntec Optics has created optical and opaque components used in colonoscopy procedures. These lenses are used to examine large bowel and the distal part of the small bowel with a camera on a flexible tube passed through the anus. It provides a way to diagnose visually and gives the opportunity for biopsy or removal of suspected colorectal cancer. Colonoscopy helps in removing polyps. These polyps can be studied with the aid of a microscope.
