Syntec Optics, with locations in Pavilion, NY and Rochester, NY, has hired Doug Hand of Geneseo as its new Sales Manager. Hand holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Optics from the University of Rochester and has over 15 years of industry experience working for Opkor, G-S Plastic Optics and most recently Qioptiq in Fairport, NY.

Rick Arndt, VP and GM of Syntec Optics said, “Doug will be a great asset for us and our customers. His knowledge, experience and positive attitude make him a perfect fit for Syntec.” Hand agreed saying “This position will allow me to utilize my degree and experience to the fullest and I’m happy to be part of the team.”

The HRDT process is ideal for optics applications that require high refraction, heat resistant, and Near Infra-Red (NIR) performance. This is critical in industries such as telecom, defense, and biometrics in order to meet the stringent performance demands. This technology reduces the cost by about five times for optics applications by drastically reducing the time and cost of prototype cycles.
